The Concept of Innocence

A foggy breath in the morning, a stare into the blue oceans of a loved one, and the pain that tears you inside when light fades into darkness and the invisible takes place in your existence. This is where our story begins, we were born in 1968. We saw light, but light was not life. We learnt to walk, we learnt to speak, to say I love you, we learnt to fall on our knees, and we also learnt to dance, we learnt that living is eating. We discovered books and letters and the power they have to save and to kill. We thought life was just just a tale we were told, no one told us that we were going to be pierced, that people would one day leave the tale, that tears would one day mean more than not getting candy, that the longing to find a speck of love would drown us so far deep inside the water that it would be too hard to breath again. But we were told to be brave, to keep our heart strong to fight, and to live in the existence we wake up in, to do and to not, to laugh, to give our wounds time to be healed. We were told to paint a picture of hope, to draw what was beyond the line on the ocean, we were told to paint a story, to paint what we wanted to be. Sometimes the paint pot spills on our picture, but we were told to use our brushes to paint over the spilled paint over the things we wanted to make disappear. So I painted those eyes, the two blue oceans that have kept me alive all this time.
